기타의 선율이 멜로디의 주축으로 탄탄하게 이끌어주고 중간중간 피아노 베이스가 더해져 기타의 여백을 매워줌과 동시에 따뜻한 느낌을 청중들에게 주는 곡인데요. 그냥 일광욕하면서 들으면 너무나도 베스트할 것 같은 느낌입니다. 사실 멜로디 자체는 단조롭기 때문에 조금 심심하게 느껴질 수 있는데요. 여유를 즐기고 싶은 날이라면 'The Book of You & I'처럼 평온한 곡을 들으면서 여유를 만끽하는것도 참 좋은 것 같습니다 :)
사실 'The Book of You & I'의 킬링파트는 단연 Alec Benjamin의 미성이지 않을까 싶은데요. Alec Benjamin의 미성을 돋보이게 하기위해 이런 단조로운 멜로디를 사용한 것 같기도 하네요:) 아무튼 정말 따뜻하고 포근한 노래임은 확실한 것 같습니다!

멜로디와 Alec Benjamin의 목소리 정말 잘 어울리지 않나요?
정말 멜로디, 보이스 모두 따뜻한 느낌과 포근한 느낌에 최적화되있는 느낌입니다.(저는 이 조합 너무 좋습니다)근데 사실 가사는 이별의 내용으로 이루어져있는데요.
이런 달달한 멜로디에 상반되는 가사여서 그런지 더욱 가슴아프게 다가오는 것 같습니다.

저녁식사로 시리얼을 먹으며 밤 샜던 것 처럼 말이야
이 가사가 저에겐 흥미롭게 다가왔는데요.
일단 이별 곡을 보면 주로 Chapter에 많이 비유하더라구요.
The Book of You & I 도 제목부터 '너와 나의 책' 이듯이 팝송에선 책이란게 긍정적인 의미만를 내포하진 않는 것 같습니다 ;(
그리고 Alec Benjamin의 미성과 마지막 가사인 Cereal이 마치 청소년기에 있었던 일을 얘기하는 것 같아 꽤 재밌게 들리더라구요 :)
